McKean County Biodynamics, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission includes the improvements of the quality of life for the so-called “mentally challenged” (this title includes all of us – who isn’t mentally challenged in some area?). We propose to accomplish our mission by providing a light and laughter filled biodynamic garden facility in Bradford, Pennsylvania. We firmly believe that biodynamic soil radiates health and life as opposed to regular organic soil and will further enhance the lives of our participants. The project will also provide therapeutic activities and fresh healthy vegetables and herbs for many people.

Our president is Bob Cummins. Bob has been involved in biodynamic agriculture for twelve years, he is also a gardening assistant to our Biodynamic Master Gardener, L.A. Rotheraine. (See attached Board listing) McKean County Biodynamics, Inc. was incorporated in November of 1998 as a 501 © 3 non-profit entity, to serve the community, gardeners, farmers, special need citizens, students and the environment. Biodynamics is a branch of agriculture that takes us back to gardening the way our Creator intended it to be – purely natural and nutritious. No other agricultural system can compete with the increased productivity of using the biodynamic herbal preparations to purify soil, compost and plants – thus foodstuffs. In order to restore nutrients needed within our food supply, biodynamic agriculture is the answer. The problem is it is relatively unknown in America. Biodynamically grown vegetables have superior taste, color, aroma, shelf life and nutrition. Our intent is that McKean County Biodynamics, Inc. will expand to include an income from seeds, vegetables, plants, herbs, donations, fundraising, grants, composting and other resources. With this income will come employment. With employment will come more income. Our goal is to become self-sufficient and become an asset not only to our community but also to the entire planet.

MISSION STATEMENT

IRS Tax Exempt Status: 25-185503

McKean County Biodynamics, Inc. is founded upon the biodynamic branch of agriculture and is dedicated to improving the environment through research, education, charity and social prosperity. This organization pledges to serve and provide benefits in the following ways:

Research

1. Demonstrate that open-pollinated seed strains are far superior to genetically engineered or hybrid strains when grown in biodynamic herbal preparations.

2. Prove that soil, compost and plants are enhanced with the biodynamic herbal preparations.

3. Show that fruition is increased beyond normal capacities of climatic conditions if our method is used.

4. Teach people that biodynamic gardening can out-perform traditional organic or chemical methods in quality, taste, productivity and shelf-life.

Education

5. Teach people how to use these inexpensive biodynamic preparations and methods and thus stop the further depletion of the soil, water and nutritional content of food.

Charity

6. Provide free and nutritious food to the McKean County’s charitable distribution centers.

Social Prosperity

7. Provide the mentally challenged with a clean, light-filled gardening project that raises their level of consciousness.

8. Provide a pleasant garden atmosphere that welcomes the community and the mentally challenged to work side by side and get to know each other as equal gardening partners.

9. Provide new jobs for the mentally challenged and the community as a whole.
